Return of the Banana Splits

This contest is now closed. The winner will be notified via e-mail.

I asked my dad if he remembered the Banana Splits from the 60's and he said yes and told me it was a "goofy tv show about four characters who did zany, corny things and cracked jokes." TheBananaSplits GroupShot

And after looking at the website for the Banana Splits relaunch, I'd have to say I agree. He remembered it being a bit silly and not his taste, but then I reminded him it was aimed at a 4-7 year old audience and he conceded that it would probably work best for that age group.

Even though I wasn't there, this is exactly what I would imagine a 60's era kiddies' show would be like. It seems like Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in before they grew up. The show will being airing on the Cartoon Network on September 2.

To celebrate the re-launch of this classics kid's show, I am giving away

  • One, very cool, limited edition (really, there are only 500 of these in existence), Banana Splits toddler t-shirt, made with comfy organic cotton, and
  • a vintage 1960s Banana Splits poster.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me something you liked about the Banana Splits website or something about your favorite children's show. I'll accept comments until next Wednesday, August 13th.

This contest is open to those with a US mailing address (because I have to pay the shipping charges). Oh, and the great prize is courtesy of Team Mom!

  4. This is fantastic! The Banana Splits was my husband's favorite TV show as a kid. He plays the theme song all of the time for our daughter on his ipod. He even put it on a CD to play it in his car. I told him about it coming up on the 2nd, and he's determined to dvr all of the episodes! We (more like my hubby and daughter) would be THRILLED to win the poster (it would be proudly displayed in our home) and t-shirt (my hubby would love to see our two-year old daughter in it)!

  6. ohmygosh, I loved the Banana Splits, they were up there with Captain Kangaroo in my book, LOL I think it was the attaction of the singing and the silly animal characters.

If we won the vintage poster, I'd have to have framed and put in the lil munkey's room! (or maybe mine? LOL) I'd love to take a picture of her in that shirt, that's for sure!

  7. Aack..Why did I click on the song? Now I'll never get that song out of my head. Tra-la-la. I used to love this show. When I was little it was in reruns. It was so corny that it was funny. My favorite show was actually the Muppets. I have Seasons 1-3, so far.
