30 Days Without Shampoo - Week 2

If you have been paying attention, you know that I gave up traditional shampoo and conditioner 2 weeks ago. I went no 'poo, and so far I have no regrets.

Day 8 - I didn't do anything with my hair except pull the front back with some clips.

Day 9 - Same as day 8.

Day 10 - Had planned to rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar (ACV), but woke up too late. Just pulled the front back with more clips.

Day 11 - Um, woke up late again. I guess it will be more clips to keep my hair off my face. It doesn't feel bad at all, but the frizz is creeping in a little bit. Really wish I had rinsed it yesterday.

Day 12 - I think sleep is more important than hair and don't take the time to do anything to it.

Day 13 - My hair is starting to feel a little slimy from not getting any water or anything for almost an entire week. I have definitely been showering, but didn't want to waste time with my hair while my VIP is in town.

Day 15 (April 30) - I finally had time to properly rinse my hair with the BS and ACV. And it might still feel a little greasy. I'll know better after it dries. I do think I've had a bit more volume though and know that the greasiness is temporary.

My mom did question my decision to switch though. She told our mutual hair dresser what I was doing and said hair dresser wasn't too happy about it. She feels for certain that I will strip all of the color out of my highlights. So far, after 3 BS washes, I don't think that has happened. I'm using less than a tablespoon total and it is highly diluted because I am wetting my hair prior to applying the BS rinse. From what I read online my hair dresser is right to be concerned, but one of the reasons I am diluting it extra is to avoid this exact problem.

No picture tonight... Bruce has the camera.

  3. I'd love to try the no shampoo method but my hair is super straight, super fine and gets super greasy by just the next day! I can't imagine being able to go more than a day w/o shampoo b/c when I do it is so nasty! And there isn't much I can do with it other than hide it under a hat and I'm not a hat person :)

  5. Erin - What is the link to your blog???

Edi - You could use the BS more often than I do. And maybe after a couple of days/weeks your hair would even out and greasiness wouldn't be an issue?

  6. You're brave! I was just reading about this on another blog. Any issues with the smell?
